Informal / Formal style
1. Although there are no universally accepted rules for writing e-mails, there are some useful. Here are some:
• Create a subject line with impact – it can make your e-mail more likely to be read.
• Keep your paragraphs short, use headings, bullets and numbering – these will guide the reader and make the message easier to read.
• Don’t always trust your spell check (it can’t tell the difference between e.g. your and you’re), proofread your message before sending it – it is much more professional if there are no silly errors in it.
• Put your signature on the message – it saves for the reader scrolling down to see if there is more text :)
2. It is very important to know who you are writing to, to be able to decide whether you should use informal or formal/neutral language.
Here are some tips for you for both writing styles:
INFORMAL | FORMAL / NEUTRAL |

It is also more formal to use words/expressions of Latin origin instead of the Anglo-Saxon ones.

help | segítség | assistance |
because of | valami miatt | due to |
ask | kérdez | enquire |
tell | mond | inform |
ask for | kér | request |
job | munka/állás | profession |
have | birtokol (van vmije) | possess |
give | ad | provide |
needs | követelmények | requirements |
check | ellenőriz | verify |
There is yet another way to be polite in English. You should change your original short, indirect sentences into longer, more polite ones.
Here are some examples:
